In May 2022, we began our nomadic lifestyle with a pet sit in Gent. Fran transitioned to web development, and I, Bianca, started a new career. We cared for a playful Border Collie named Nena in a beautiful home, enjoying Gent`s rich history and lively culture. As we head to Brussels, we cherish the memories made in Gent.
In May 2022, everything started to change for us. Fran had changed careers from architect to web developer a few months ago, and I, Bianca, was on my own path to a new career. We were ready to dive into a nomadic lifestyle, and the chance to pet sit in Gent felt like the perfect start.
After almost four years in Ibiza, we loved the island and the life we built there. But the idea of exploring a new place was so exciting. Gent, with its history and lively culture, seemed like the ideal first stop for our new adventure.
Just three days after applying for a month-long pet sit in Gent, we were over the moon to be chosen. This acceptance meant everything was about to change. We sold our furniture and car, donated extra clothes, and managed to fit all our stuff into two (really big) suitcases (we later realized that this was not maintainable and we needed smaller ones).
We arrived in Gent in July to an amazing home with a sweet and playful Border Collie named Nena. We enjoyed a peaceful area but were just minutes from the city center. The garden, rooms, and views were fantastic, and the house had everything we needed to work comfortably.
Working from home while taking care of Nena was such a joy. We spent our breaks playing in the garden or exploring the neighborhood with her, which was a refreshing break from work. Our stay also coincided with the Gent Festivities, a week of celebrations that we were lucky to experience. The lively festivities were a fun contrast to our everyday routine. Leaving Gent was tough. We fell in love with Nena and felt so at home in Gent.
As we wrapped up our time in Gent, we looked forward to our next adventure: a pet sit in Brussels. Our nomadic life was just beginning, and with each new place and furry friend, our journey became richer and more fulfilling. Stay tuned as we continue to share our experiences, discovering new places and making memories with the wonderful pets we meet along the way.
